Betty Co-Ed vintage hats-- 1930s, 1940s

Beginning in the 1930s smart and sporty hats were introduced called "Betty Co-Eds". These striking and stylish hats were especially appealing to the new era of college women. Note the label-- "Hats of Youth".

1932 Swimsuit Fashion Layout-- Hats, too!

The 1932 swimsuit layout photo looks like a real party! Not only are the suits worn by the guys and gals unique but the hats are, too!  The red hat is my favorite. Which item of clothing do you like best?

1928 Paris Window for The Vintage Hat Shop

If I had a real shop for The Vintage Hat Shop, I think this is what my store front might look like.  This photo from the Geo. Eastman collection was taken in Paris in 1928 or 1929.  Love the stylish hats and the classic styles.
These are some of the hats that would be in my window--

What would be in your window?

1931 Chevrolet Sport Coupe, with vintage hats to match!

The Literary Digest from January 24, 1931  had an ad for The Chevrolet Sport Coupe with rumble seat.
Look at all the action in this picture! The guy with the suitcase and the lady in the rumble seat make me wonder if they are coming or going.  Love the guy ringing the dinner bell--wearing the white jacket.
Price on the sport coupe with rumble seat--$575, Standard Five Window Coupe-- $545.

I have a couple of hats in The Vintage Hat Shop that would fit right in this scene.  And a couple more to be added to the shop soon.

Vintage 1920s cloche hat

Portrait of mother and child, possibly of the surname 'Gordon'

Cloche: close fitting hat, bell shape, popular in the 1920s

Let's take a look at some of the cloches that were in style in the 20s. You're going to love them!
(I am just learning how to import photos. It is a practice in patience. Please bear with me!)

Vintage Cloche and the Jazz Age Lawn Party

The buttercream yellow cloche was purchased from The Vintage Hat Shop to be worn at The Jazz Age Lawn Party on Govenor's Island in the heart of the majestic New York Harbor. www.dreamlandorchestra.com/calendar.php

Won't it be just perfect?  Even though this hat is not from the 1920s it has the style and feel of a flapper ready to do the Charleston dance on the arm of a  dapper gentleman.  Get your dancing shoes ready!!

Vintage Lavender Hats

When I look out on to our fields, I can see that the blooms on the lilacs won't be with us much longer. Time to enjoy them while we can!

The Vintage Hat Shop has  many lavender hats that would be perfect this time of year!

Vintage Cloche, Ali MacGraw, Love Story

OK, I know I am dating myself when I mention that I saw " Love Story" when it first came out back in the 1970s. Tis true.
I loved the cloche that Ali MacGraw wore-- and everyone else wore after that movie.
So when I saw this magazine I just had to go through my hat collection and find an original 1920s cloche to put with Ali's picture. See what you think.
I am not a magazine collector so I am willing to pass on this Good Housekeeping November 1972 issue to the first person that asks for it. Just contact me and I'll get it in the mail.

There  is also an article by Dr. Joyce Brothers, "System for Liberated Love and Marriage". Just saying.
