1920s/1930s Straw boater hat

Oh, the thrill of the hunt! I went to an estate sale this past weekend and found matching treasures.

1930s/1920s straw boater hat. J. L. Hudson Co.

I also found sheet music-- "What Can I Say After I Say I'm Sorry?"

The straw boater is a similar match to the hat being worn by the gal in the photo. A perfect find!

The hat will be in the shop as soon as I get it "spiffed up" and photographed.

Helen Uffner, vintage clothing treasure hunter

Did you read the vintage themed article about Helen Uffner in the Sunday edition of the New York Times?
Her Sundays are spent visiting shops and estate sales looking for unique vintage clothing and other interesting items. Many of her clothing finds have been used in movies, commercials and stage productions. Ahh, the thrill of the hunt. Helen Uffner, vintage clothing expert, is my kind of treasure hunter!

I also went to an estate sale this weekend and found a few items that I couldn't pass by.

Sheet music, jewelry, green glass pitcher

Red (bright cherry red) gloves

and just a couple 1950s hats. Coming to the shop soon!

What The Hat Lady wears in winter

Since I own The Vintage Hat Shop, I am often known around town as "The Hat Lady". You would think that every time I am out and about I would be wearing a vintage hat. Ahhhh, not so. Especially in this blustery weather up North this year.
When I am on my way to the post office for a hat mailing this is often my outfit of choice--

Fuchsia cloche hat, worn at a tilt. Plaid Cashmere scarf, made in Scotland.

Add my long warm faux fur trimmed coat. And I'm off!

McCalls 1940, vintage hats worn with linen suits

Three linen suits each worn with a 1940s tilt hat. The lovely tailored suits are each a McCall's pattern. The stylish and fashionable vintage hats are similar to the hats available in The Vintage Hat Shop.

Art Deco hat, 1931 Pictorial Review Advertisement

I know the gal in the Pictorial Review is worried about her underarm odor and using the proper perspiration preparation as referenced in the advertisement for Ordorono. But I am just loving her hat! So classy art deco.
