You Have a Date! August 1944

When I first saw this ad in the August, 1944 Woman's Day magazine I thought the grocer was asking the lady out on a date! But in reading the advertisement I see that he is indicating that the BREAD has a date!
I guess that goes back to when we first learned about homonyms, doesn't it? Same spelling, different meaning.

Let's pick out a few hats from The Vintage Hat Shop that this gal could wear if she did go out on a date in 1944.
