1910 Widebrim hat, black velvet

At the recent Titanic exhibition at the Manistee Public Library, Mark alluded to the Manistee connection to the ill fated ship. It seems that Miss Ida Anderson was on her way to Northern Michigan to become a housekeeper for her deceased sister's children but she perished with the Titanic on April 15, 1912. She was to stop in Manistee to see another sister-- Mrs. Peterson.

I have only owned one hat that was made by a Manistee milliner--- a Mrs. Peterson. A 1910s black velvet Widebrim, typical of hats worn during the Titanic era.

A weird coincidence or just happenstance?

Titanic Exhibit

On Saturday April 14 a Titanic lecture and exhibit was held at the Manistee Public Library. And hats from The Vintage Hat Shop were a part of the extravaganza!
Upon entering the exhibit area authentic violin music was being played by Sam R. --eerily beautiful.

Carol, wearing an authentic 1910s hat, gave a short talk about the ongoing fascination with the legend of the grand Titanic and the phenomenon of the ship of dreams.

Mark, of the Manistee County Historical Museum talked of the Manistee connection to the Titanic and displayed a variety of items that were typical of the era.
Refreshments served included foods that would have been typical of first, second and third class travelers! Which ticket would have belonged to you?
