Vintage Cowgirl Hat

The dark brown suede cowgirl hat was sold from The Vintage Hat Shop to a gal in remote Alaska.
She purchased the hat to wear "Wrangling horses and working outside wearing work pants." Stylish and classy goes everywhere! Love it..

Loretta Young, Lilly Dache' and The Vintage Hat Shop

Recently hats from The Vintage Hat Shop were purchased by the Loretta Young family to be used at the 100th Anniversary Exhibit to be held at the Hollywood Museum! 'Twas a big deal for this Loretta Young fan!

It seems that Loretta Young was such a big fan of Lilly Dache' that it is rumored that she purchased every hat in the shop when Lilly announced her retirement. Since Lilly was a favorite of Loretta's, one of the hats purchased for display was a Dachette.

An article about Lilly Dache', also furnished by The Vintage Hat Shop, will be on display, too.

The other hat chosen for display was a 1960s breton by Bonta. Another classic 1960s style hat.

The display will be on exhibit from December through April at the Hollywood Museum in LA.

I have been encouraged to attend the exhibit.  Hmmmm, there may be a California trip in the future for The Vintage Hat Shop!

I'll keep you posted.

Barbra Streisand, this hat suits you!

The classic 1960s  Breton is a perfect style for Barbra Streisand , wouldn't you say? I looked and looked through The Vintage Hat Shop but I could not find another vintage hat that would be more sophisticated and flattering.  Very classy.

Vintage Hats of the 60s. Groovy

Today I was inspired by Sammy Davis's blog post on 1960s Fashion and Style Primer.   She does a great job of describing fashion trends and displays classic photos of the styles of the era.
So I decided to add a few hat photos from the 60s, too. All photos are from the Sept, 1964 issue of Woman's Day Magazine.

Vintage 1960s bubble toque hat

The bubble toque or bubble hat, was popular in the 1960s. The vintage bubble toques were  made of felt or straw. Worn atop the head, they are either brimless or with a very narrow brim. They are generally oversized, thus the name "bubble toque". Many were outrageously bold!
