Charity Fishing Tournament for Michigan Troops

Today the 3rd Annual Charity Fishing Tournament for Michigan's Veterans was held on Lake Michigan in Manistee.
The event is intended to show appreciation for the members of the military for their service and sacrifice. The event --named Tight Lines for Troops,  is sponsored by a variety of veteran's groups and a host of volunteers.

Over 50 charter boat captains from all over northern Michigan volunteer their boats and their time to be a part of this special event. What a perfect weather day for fishing along Lake Michigan.

Members of the community lined the pier and the riverwalk to show their appreciation and support for service members.

The memorable event was a success and it appeared that a good time was had by all. We saw many delighted fisherman (and fisherwomen) proudly displaying their catch.

In addition to charter boat fishing opportunities, some Veterans chose to go  fishing from the pier or canoeing along the river. Thank you to all involved in this special day.
